Climate change - one of the most important issues

Climate change is one of the most important issues for our world. All countries and people will be affected and we must take our responsibility to limit the effects. Agriculture and forestry contribute to climate change and will also be very affected by climate change.

Therefore, as farmers and forest owners, we have a responsibility to take measures to limit our impact on climate change. But we can also offer society solutions to climate change by reducing the emissions from the society and to minimise the effects of climate change.

Climate labelling for food

A Swedish initiative was started in 2007 by KRAV and Swedish Seal (Svenskt Sigill) in order to develop a climate label for the food chain. Currently, the project is managed in cooperation with several major Swedish food companies: Milko, Lantmännen, the Federation of Swedish Farmers, Scan and Skånemejerier.

The purpose is to create a labelling system, which will reduce the negative climate effects in food production and give consumers a chance to make a conscious climate choices as well as strengthening the competitiveness of the food producers.
